Senator Joe Manchin (D-WV) Sun 8/27 4:00 pm

Alise Reicin & Bob Boiarsky welcome Senator Joe Manchin (D-WV) to their home in Englewood for a NORPAC event on Sunday afternoon, August 27th.

Senator Manchin is former Governor of West Virginia and has previously served as a State legislator. Elected to the U.S. Senate in 2010, he currently serves on the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee, the Senate Select Committe on Intelligence, the Senate Committee on Appropriations, and the Senate Committee on Veterans’ Affairs.

Joe Manchin was one of just 4 members from his party to vote against the JCPOA (“Iran Deal”) in 2015. About the agreement, Manchin stated that “I must cast a vote against this deal. I do not believe that supporting this deal will prevent Iran from eventually acquiring a nuclear weapon or continuing to be a leading sponsor of terrorism against Americans and our allies around the world,”

In December 2016, Senator Manchin urged the Obama administration to veto the United Nations resolution demanding an end to Israeli settlement building. Manchin stated that “I support two-party negotiations to reach agreement on any settlement issues, and this U.N. resolution is not the way to pursue peace between the Palestinian Authority and the State of Israel.”

This year, Manchin was one of only 2 Senators from his party to vote in favor of the nomination of now-U.S. Ambassador to Israel David Friedman.
